This is a list of the 25 upgrade trees and 100 upgrades in 20 Minutes Till Dawn. Each tree starts with choosing a first tier upgrade, then it progresses to second-tier upgrades. Only one second-tier upgrade is necessary to unlock the third-tier upgrade, with it being possible to obtain all 4 upgrades in the tree if desired.

  • Summon an egg that will hatch into a Dragon in 3 minutes.
Aged Dragon.png
Aged Dragon
  • Your Dragon gains 15 damage every 60 seconds. This ability works even if your Dragon is still in its egg.
Trained Dragon.png
Trained Dragon
  • Your Dragon gains 10% attack speed every 60 seconds. This ability works even if your Dragon is still in its egg.
Dragon Bond.png
Dragon Bond
  • Your bullets deals additional damage equal to 10% of your Dragon's damage.

Ghost Friend Tree

  • Summon a Ghost Friend that rapidly shoots piercing projectiles for 8 damage.
Best Friends.png
Best Friends
  • Fire Rate +10%
  • Ghost Friend's attack speed is increased by your Fire Rate.
Ghost Wizard.png
Ghost Wizard
  • Ghost Friend's projectiles inflict Burn for 6 damage per second. They also trigger your on-hit effects.
Vengeful Ghost.png

  • Your Ghost Friend shoots 1 additional projectile.

Magic Lens Tree

Magic Lens.png
Magic Lens
  • Summons a rotating Magic Lens that gives all bullets that pass through it +30% damage and size. Bonus damage is increased by your Summon Damage.
Igniting Lens.png
Igniting Lens
  • Bullets that pass through the lens will inflict Burn on hit.
Refraction.png
Refraction
  • Bullets that pass through the lens gain +2 bounce.
Focal Point.png
Focal Point
  • All effects of the lens are doubled, and its size is halved.

  • Summon a Magic Scythe that deals 40 damage.
Shadowblade.png
Shadowblade
  • Magic Scythe inflicts Curse on enemies.
  • Curse damage is increased by 15%.
Windcutter.png

  • Move Speed +10%.
  • Magic Scythe's damage is increased by bonuses to your Move Speed.
Scythe Mastery.png

  • Bullet Damage +10%
  • Magic Scythe's damage is increased by bonuses to your Bullet Damage.

Holy Spear.png

  • Magic Spear deals +10 damage for every Max HP you have.

  • Magic Spear gains +15 damage every time you gain a Soul Heart.

  • On every 2nd shot, call down Lightning to strike a nearby enemy for 22 damage.
Electro Bug.png

  • Summon an Electro Bug that calls down Lightning to strike 2 nearby enemies.
Energized.png
Energized
  • When Lightning strikes an enemy, there's a 20% chance to automatically refill 3 of your ammo.
Electro Mastery.png
Electro Mastery
  • All Lightning damage increased by 12. Increase Lightning area of effect by 75%.

Ice Tree

Frost Mage.png
Frost Mage
  • Your bullets have a 35% chance to inflict Freeze for 1.5 seconds. Boss enemies are only affected by Freeze for 0.3 seconds.
Frostbite.png
Frostbite
  • When an enemy is inflicted with Freeze, they lose 15% of their Max HP. Boss enemies lose 1% of their Max HP.
Ice Shard.png
Ice Shard
  • When shooting your last ammo, also shoot 3 additional ice shards that inflict Freeze.
Shatter.png
Shatter
  • Enemies which are affected by Freeze explode when killed and deal damage to nearby enemies equal to 7% of their Max HP.

Pyromancy Tree

Pyro Mage
  • Your bullets have a 50% chance to inflict Burn for 3 damage per second.
Fire Starter.png
Fire Starter
  • On every 5th shot, launch a Fireball that deals 40 damage.
  • The Fireball also inflicts Burn to enemies in a large area for 3 damage per second.
Intense Burn.png
Intense Burn
  • Burn Damage +35%
Soothing Warmth.png
Soothing Warmth
  • When you inflict Burn, there is a 0.05% (1 in 2000) chance to heal you for 1 HP.

Dark Arts Tree

  • Your bullets have a 35% chance to inflict Curse.
  • Cursed enemies, after 0.75 seconds, take damage equal to 200% of your Bullet Damage.
Doom.png
Doom
  • Curse damage is increased by an additional 100% of your Bullet Damage.
Wither.png
Wither
  • Enemies inflicted with Curse take 30% more damage.
Ritual.png
Ritual
  • Every 10 enemies killed by Curse will increase your Bullet Damage by 1%.

Holy Arts Tree

  • After shooting your last ammo, Smite nearby enemies for 20 damage.
Holy Might.png

  • Smite deals +10 extra damage for every HP you currently have (not Max HP).

Shield Boost Tree

Holy Shield.png
Holy Shield
  • A Holy Shield protects you from damage once.
  • The Holy Shield regenerates in 2 minutes after breaking.
Divine Blessing.png
Divine Blessing
  • Increase Reload Rate and Move Speed by 25% while Holy Shield is active.
Divine Wrath.png
Divine Wrath
  • Call down Lightning to strike a random nearby enemy for 22 damage every second while Holy Shield is active.
Stalwart Shield.png
Stalwart Shield
  • Holy Shield now regenerates in 1 minute.

Vision Tree

  • All enemies within your Vision Range take 15 damage every 1 second.
Intense Glare.png

  • Vision Range +25%
  • The damage of Glare is doubled.
Sight Magic.png
Sight Magic
  • Vision Range +15%
  • Damage from Glare also applies the on-hit effects of your bullets.
Saccade.png
Saccade
  • Vision Range +25%
  • The damage of Glare occurs twice as often.

Aero Tree

Aero Magic.png
Aero Magic
  • Every 2 seconds shoot out a Gale of wind. Gale deals 20 damage every 0.5 seconds.
Windborne.png

  • Move Speed +15%
  • Gale's damage is increased by bonuses to your Move Speed.
Eye of the Storm.png
Eye of the Storm
  • Deal double of Gale's damage to nearby enemies every 2 seconds.
  • Gale damage is increased by 5.
Aero Mastery.png
Aero Mastery
  • Gale damage increased by 15.

These upgrades require specific combinations of other upgrades to appear.

Character-specific Upgrades

These upgrades are only available in the chests dropped by Elites, and the upgrades are different among characters.

Tomes

These upgrades are only dropped by the Bosses.

In 0.9.0 Summoning Rework:

  • Magic Daggers (Light Weaponry) were removed, and now the whole upgrade tree is focused on powering up the Magic Scythe!
  • Its damage increases based on your bullet damage and move speed.
