Stats
This page lists the game's stats, which can be affected by upgrades.
How stat modifiers work
The effect of stat modifiers (from upgrades, runes, etc.) is calculated as follows:
For example, if your weapon damage starts at 10, then you get bonuses of +15% and +40%, penalties of -20% and -30%, and a flat +2 bonus, the end result is the following:
Observe that every negative multiplier is multiplied together, whereas positive multipliers are first added together. This means that negative multipliers have a stronger effect than positive ones. In the above example, the positive multipliers add up to 55%, while the negative multipliers only add up to -50%. However, because the negative multipliers are all multiplied together, the end result without the flat bonus of +2 is 8.68, which is 13.2% less than the base value of 10.
List of Stats
Ammo
The number of times you can shoot before you have to reload.
Upgrading Max Ammo increases the size of your weapon's magazine. This is especially useful for weapons with long reload times, such as Dual SMGs.
Burn
Status effect. Enemies inflicted with Burn will take damage every second, for 3 seconds. Burn can be stacked.
Bounce
Makes your projectiles bounce off enemies. Projectiles still deal full damage after bouncing, so upgrading Bounce can substantially increase your damage output.
Bullet Damage
Increases the damage of your weapon's projectiles.
Bullet Size
Increases the size of your weapon's projectiles. For Grenade Launcher, this increases the AoE.
Bullet Speed
Increases the speed of your weapon's projectiles. This implicitly increases the projectiles' range, as they travel further due to their increased speed.
Character Size
Increases your size and hitbox.
Curse
Status effect. Enemies inflicted with Curse will, after 2 seconds, take damage equal to 200% of your Bullet Damage.
Dodge
Increases your chance to avoid losing HP upon getting hit. Capped at 70%.
Fire Rate
Decreases the time in between your weapon's shots, increasing how quickly it fires.
Freeze
Status effect. Enemies inflicted with Freeze are held in place for 1.5 seconds. Bosses are only frozen for 0.3 seconds.
Frozen enemies can't move or attack, but still deal contact damage.
Like Burn, Freeze can be stacked. With a high fire rate, it's possible to freeze-lock bosses into place.
HP
The number of hits you can take before dying. Your Max HP can be increased in-game, e.g. from the Vitality, Giant, or Titan upgrades, the Tome of Might, or the Tome of Vitality. HP can be restored in-game by collecting pickups from the Healing rune, or regenerating health from the Regeneration or Soothing Warmth upgrades, or the Growth rune. Your Max HP is capped at 20.
Move Speed
Increases your movement speed, both while shooting (walk speed) and while not shooting.
Pickup Range
Increases the range within which you can pick up XP orbs.
Piercing
Allows projectiles to pass through enemies, dealing full damage to every enemy they hit. Piercing takes priority over Bounce.
For Grenade Launcher, pierced projectiles only deal half the weapon's current damage.
Projectiles
Increases the number of projectiles your weapon fires in a single shot. Influenced by Spread.
Reload Rate
Decreases the time it takes to reload your weapon.
Spread
Increases the gap between your projectiles, spreading them further apart.
Can be beneficial or a hindrance, depending on your weapon and projectiles count.
Summon Attack Speed
Decreases the cooldown between summon attacks, increasing their rate of fire.
Also increases the fire rate of Batgun.
Summon Damage
Increases damage from summons.
Also increases the damage of Batgun, and the bonus damage from
Magic Lens.
Vision Range
Increase the visible range around you. Useful for Glare.
Walk Speed
Increases how fast you move while shooting. Indirectly increased by upgrading Move Speed, or directly increased with Run and Gun.
XP
XP (short for experience) is collected to level up. XP gain can be increased with the Growth rune (+4% per rank) and from Shana's Quick Learner upgrade (+40%).
Some upgrades trigger effects when you collect XP orbs: Recharge has a chance to refill ammo and Excitement briefly increases your Fire Rate.
