Modes
In 20 Minutes Till Dawn, there are three game modes: Standard Mode, Quickplay Mode, and Endless Mode.
Standard Mode
This is the default game mode: the player simply has to survive for 20 minutes. Runes are enabled. Standard Mode is the only mode in which Achievements and new levels of Darkness can be unlocked.
Quickplay Mode
Like in Standard Mode, the player has to survive for a certain amount of time. However:
- The player must only survive for 10 minutes instead of 20. Enemies are the same as in the first 10 minutes of Standard Mode.
- The amount of XP gained is supposed to be increased (according to the mode selection screen), but this is currently bugged - the experience gain is the same as in Standard Mode.
- Achievements and new levels of Darkness cannot be unlocked.
In other words, Quickplay Mode is essentially the same as 10 Minutes Till Dawn (minus the custom Darkness level and the new content introduced in 20 Minutes Till Dawn).
Endless Mode
In this mode, the player has to survive as long as possible, as there is no time limit. Additionally:
- The Darkness level is always 0.
- Runes are disabled.
- Achievements and new levels of Darkness cannot be unlocked.
- Each upgrade can be taken up to 3 times.
- Getting three copies of a perk from Specialize counts as one time.
- Every 10 minutes, all enemies are buffed:
